Trend Union's Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 Trend Report: How Wonderful!
The Trend Union report which was given this past week at Parsons, provided valuable insight into the future of fashion. The company, which has been in the business for twenty-five years, is a trend-forecasting agency that provides consulting for various companys within the design world.
I found this presentation very interesting, as it dealt with the idea that all aspects of society impact on the future of fashion, and trends at large. Recognizing the issues of our troublesome economy, the presentation focused on the notion of optimism.
Titled "How Wonderful" the presentation dealt with a need to escape reality. Turning towards our imagination and fantasy then, the report focused on eccentricity, androgynous architypes, the ballerina, the influence of art on fashion, an Indian and Spanish influence, and enchanted moments.
Altogether, the presentation provided an alternative to our current state of affairs, and instead focused on the many positive aspects of life.
