And the dress choice was...
Most Americans may be marveling at the momentous election of their first black president, but the country's fashionistas have something equally as important on their minds: Michelle Obama's choice of outfit on election night.
Mrs Obama wore a red and black scoop-neck dress by Narciso Rodriguez for the historic moment, a decision that has sparked instant debate among the fashion-focused. Some branded it an eyesore, others said it was a simple mistake. However, though many have labeled our next first lady’s outfit as an odd choice, I feel that Michelle’s dress characterized her unique sense of style, and ability to be herself.
The fashion director, Julie Gilhart, of Barneys New York commented on Michelle Obama's dress earlier this week, she wrote, "the dress was unpretentious, it said, be who you are, and don't let someone else tell you how to be."
